FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CIVF goes Beach...Beach Volleyball Mini Tour. Monday, 22nd Sept 2003The Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation (“CIVF”) is concentrating their focus on the growth of the sport of volleyball in the Cayman Islands, and is currently complimenting the growth and development of the sport of volleyball with their creation of a Beach Volleyball sub-Committee. The objective of the sub-committee is to ignite the interest of beach volleyball in Cayman, and to develop male and female junior and senior teams to compete locally and internationally, aptly demonstrated when two of Cayman’s own qualified and participated in the recent 2003 Pan-American Games in the Dominican Republic. The first item on the agenda for the beach league is the creation of a mini tour of Grand Cayman, scheduled for the period October 18th through December 14th. Tournament play will commence every other weekend, for a total of five weekends, with a 2-person format (male and female) and 4 person co-ed teams. Saturdays will be reserved for 2-person tournament play, and co-ed play will be reserved for Sundays. The tour will travel throughout Cayman, and will be staged in a different district, over the 5-week period. Cash prizes generously donated by sponsors will be awarded for each category to the top 4 teams in each category, awarded at the end of the tour, which will be calculated from accumulated points over the tour period. Cayman’s infrastructure is ideal for such an endeavor, as Beach Volleyball is an ideal marketing tool, as the dynamic nature of the sport is ideal for still photography, television coverage, radio, and product visibility, and tourism importation. Sponsors will also have the benefit of their product being marketed towards each district, as their product will be exposed to each district.
