FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAP Course

for P.E. Teachers and Perspective Coaches.

Monday, 22 Sept 2003,

The Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation has been selected by the FIVB to participate and host their Sports Aid Program (“SAP”), scheduled to run November 23 - 29 2003, 2:30 – 8:30 pm, at the Family Life Centre on Walkers Road.

The Sports Assistance Program is designated by the FIVB to encourage, develop and promote the sport of volleyball in member unions, by having a qualified instructor facilitate regimented teaching and training sessions, geared towards teachers, athletes, and recreational participants in the sport. For the Cayman Islands, Dr. Rostislav VORÁLEK has been selected by the President of the FIVB to facilitate the course in the Cayman Islands. The program is a developmental tool for member countries interested in developing elements of the sport, teaching methods and administrative methods in developing countries, and is funded by the FIVB. Dr. Rostislav VORÁLEK, an experienced coach and administrator, has a Doctorate degree in physical education, and is currently employed as a FIVB Instructor, with his home base in Prague, CZECH.

Commenting on the selection of Dr. Rostislav VORÁLEK, Vice President of the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation Mr. Keith Higgins states that “this is a wonderful opportunity for the CIVF, and the sport of volleyball in the Cayman Islands, as the CIVF has made it a mandatory requirement that this course is an initial requirement, prior to qualifying for a FIVB Coaches Level I volleyball  certification. This course will be targeted to our current senior National Team members, and selected physical education teachers in the school system, who will then have an obligation to pass on their vast experience and knowledge to young, up-coming volleyball players. As we develop individuals with the capability of teaching the sport, there will be a correlating growth of the sport.”

Any parties who would like to be considered for selection in this program, may contact Mr. Shervin Rankin at telephone # 926-0760, or Ms. Sophia Richards at 916-0445, or may visit the CIVF Web site at SAP Teachers/Coaches Course details.
